What is La Mairena?

La Mairena is a residential area in the wooded hills above Elviria, in East Marbella. It is surrounded by cork oak and pine woodland, high above the sea, which gives it cooler summers than the coast and long views over the whole bay. The German School of Málaga is based here, and it is the reason many families choose the area. Club de Golf El Soto is also in La Mairena, with a course set into the woodland.
