What is Casares?
Casares is a municipality in the province of Málaga with two very different parts. The village hangs on the hillside below the remains of its castle, and its profile of stepped white houses is among the most recognisable in the province. The coast, Casares Playa and Casares Costa, lies between Estepona and Manilva and is where the new developments of recent years are concentrated.
Within the municipality stand the Roman baths of La Hedionda, a vaulted four-chamber structure built over a sulphurous spring that is still used as a natural bathing spot.

Finca Cortesín
Finca Cortesín is the resort that sets the local ceiling: a five-star hotel with 67 suites, a spa, a beach club and an 18-hole course designed by Cabell B. Robinson. That course has hosted three editions of the Volvo World Match Play Championship and the 2023 Solheim Cup, played from 22 to 24 September, which put Casares on the world golf map.

What kind of property do people buy in Casares?
The coastal strip holds new developments and complexes with pools at some of the most contained prices per square metre on the western coast, on the same shoreline as Estepona a few kilometres further east. Finca Cortesín offers villas and apartments within the resort, in a different price range. The village and its surroundings offer houses and country properties, a different product for a different buyer.
