What is Fuengirola?
Fuengirola is a city in the province of Málaga between Mijas and Benalmádena, and one of the few on the coast that works as a city rather than a development: shops, schools, a market and residents all year round. Its great advantage over the rest of the western coast is the connection: it is the end of the C-1 commuter line, linking it with Benalmádena, Torremolinos, the airport and Málaga city with trains every twenty minutes.
Beaches, promenade and Sohail castle
The promenade runs about eight kilometres without interruption, with the beaches of Los Boliches, Carvajal and Santa Amalia alongside. Sohail castle, from the tenth century, stands over the mouth of the Fuengirola river and today hosts concerts and historical markets. In the centre, five minutes from the beach, the Bioparc is one of the best-known immersion zoos in Andalusia.

What kind of property do people buy in Fuengirola?
Apartments dominate, often with sea views, in buildings on the promenade or a street back. Rental demand is among the most solid on the coast thanks to the urban life and the train, so it is an investment market rather than a villa market. Those after a plot and a garden buy in Mijas, just above.
