What is La Zagaleta?
La Zagaleta is a private estate of around 900 hectares in the municipality of Benahavís, some twelve kilometres north-west of Marbella. It works as a private club: access is restricted to residents and their guests, security is permanent and the facilities are for exclusive use. It has capacity for more than four hundred villas and plots, spread over wooded hillsides with views over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and, on clear days, the African coast.
It is that internal provision, and not the houses alone, that explains the price level of the area. Anyone buying in La Zagaleta buys the whole estate: the two courses, the clubhouses, the equestrian centre, the helipad and the guarantee that nobody enters without an invitation.

On the Benahavís hillsides, above the Ronda road, about twelve kilometres from Marbella and about fifteen minutes by car from Puerto Banús and the beach. Málaga airport is a little under an hour away; the helipad cuts that journey to minutes.
What kind of property is there in La Zagaleta?
Exclusively villas on large plots and plots to build on. Classic villas from the estate first decades live alongside large contemporary projects, and part of the offer is plots with a project. It is a market of few transactions a year and of prices at the very top end of the whole Costa del Sol.
