What is Estepona centre like?

The Estepona old town keeps narrow streets and white houses with balconies full of flowers, and over the past decade the council has pedestrianised and whitewashed it into one of the best-kept centres in the province. Its heart is the Plaza de las Flores, with the Casa de las Tejerinas and its terraces. The fifteenth-century Torre del Reloj is what remains of the old church of Los Remedios, damaged in the 1755 earthquake and later demolished. Of the castle of San Luis, ordered by Queen Isabella at the start of the sixteenth century, remains of the walls survive.

The artistic mural route spreads more than sixty works across the façades and can be walked in little over an hour. The Orquidario, under three glass domes, holds more than fifteen hundred orchids. The Mirador del Carmen, on the boulevard towards the sea, adds a library, a conservatory, an auditorium and a viewing tower. And on Wednesday mornings the market on Avenida Puerta del Mar is a fixture of the neighbourhood.

What kind of property is there in Estepona centre?

Apartments and penthouses, both in renovated old-town buildings and in recent developments with pools beside the promenade. It is the part of the municipality where you can live without a car: beach, market, shops and schools are all on foot. Prices per square metre buy a front-line home for what a third-line one costs in Marbella, and rental demand is constant thanks to the town life.
