What is Casares like?
The village of Casares hangs on the hillside below the remains of its castle, and its profile of stepped white houses is among the most recognisable in the province of Málaga. Some fourteen kilometres from the village, the Casares coast, Casares Playa and Casares Costa, lies between Estepona and Manilva and is where the new developments of recent years are concentrated. Within the municipality stand the Roman baths of La Hedionda, a vaulted four-chamber structure over a sulphurous spring still in use, and the Finca Cortesín resort.
